Mazik Foundation

About Us

Who We Are

Our goal is to build a network of critical stakeholders to promote consumer fidelity across the nation.

Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights (MFCR) is a non-governmental consumer rights advocacy organization that works to strengthen the efficacies of both providers and consumers of goods and services, through astute capacity building, incisive technical support, and skillful representation.

Who is a consumer?

A consumer is defined for the purpose of this project as “anyone who uses (consumes) goods and services provided by government, business outfit(s) or individual(s) or the gift of nature (water, land, air etc.) for their satisfaction and general wellbeing”. This therefore makes everybody in the world including Nigeria (the President, King/Queen, employer/employee, oldest living person/fetus, driver/passenger, doctor/patient, manufacturer/user etc.), a consumer.

Activities

To achieve our goal, MFCR proposes to implement a select set of advocacy activities that will mutually benefit products/services providers and consumers who operate in the shared marketplace. These activities include:

MFCR Approach/Methodology

The MFCR proactive intervention(s) to promote consumer fidelity is accomplished through:

  • Reconciliation: MFCR engages in this form of dispute resolution which has much to do with moving from a place of disagreement, unhappiness, and dissatisfaction to a place of remediation (redress).
Mediation: MFCR applies this structured, interactive process as an impartial third party to assist disputing parties in resolving their conflict(s) using specialized communication and negotiation techniques that focus primarily on needs, rights, and interests.
  • Peacebuilding: MFCR provides valuable knowledge and requisite skills to products and services providers and consumers to resolve their perceived or actual injustice in nonviolent ways and to transform the conditions that generate conflict into sustainable peace.
  • Litigations: MFCR will provide legal assistance in support of consumers who seek redress, whenever the need arises, and on mutually agreed terms.
